:::Chalkboard Paint:::

Ever since I first saw it on the Martha Stewart Show back in the late 90's I have been addicted to the idea of chalkboard paint.  I first used it back in 2008, when my son Dylan was just about 6 months old.  When painting his nursery back then, we painted a whole wall with black chalkboard paint and the other three walls we did gorgeous green and blue stripes.

[I will update with a picture soon]

After the amazing experience with that, and how much fun daddy and I had drawing big huge pictures for a baby Dylan to look at and laugh at we were hooked.  In late 2008 we ended up having to move again, and sad to see his beautiful nursery go, we decided to do another chalkboard wall in the new house.  This time we put it in the kitchen, a full wall in the kitchen was a chalkboard wall.  By then Dylan was almost a year old and walking, so he had free space on the bottom portion to draw and I had the top area to make my lists!

The last apartment we lived in, I felt painting a chalkboard wall would be a waste of time, seeing as we knew we would only be there a short period of time, but that didn't stop me from creating some sort of chalk board masterpiece.  So here you have my pregnancy board!  My first attempt with colored chalkboard paint, and I think it came out awesomely!  I found an old picture frame on the side of the road (not kidding) and then measured it and went to Home Depot and got a piece of bead board for $3.25.  I painted the back flat side with blue chalkboard paint I made (just some left over paint I had in a can AND a half a cup of sand-free grout).  Then I taped off some funky lines and painted some purple chalkboard paint on the edges.  I am more than pleased with the way it turned out.

Time and time again, I have painted a chalkboard wall just about every place we lived.  But this time, not only does Dylan have a COLORED chalkboard wall in his room, I have my own chalkboard in my favorite room of the house; The Kitchen!  I have painted a chalkboard on my refrigerator.  Again with just some painters tape, some left over paint from another painting I did in the past, and a little sand-free grout!  Check it out!  Best idea I ever had, although I did get the idea from "Good Luck, Charlie" on Disney, I never thought I would go through with it, and the idea of just doing it, well that was my best idea ever!
